9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Unbelievable gem By V. Kehoe I just read this on my new Kindle 3 (which I enjoy so much)This is written by a pastors wife. She was an Episcopalian who married a Methodist circuit rider about 1860-70 and covers his 30 years of ministry. The purpose of the book is to bring honor to her husband and his work. She is in wonder of his personal relationship with God feeling she only went through motions. She learns from him and he from her also. But while doing this, Corra inadvertently sheds light to her faithfulness to her husband.They end up in very poor areas of the mountains. Her descriptions of people and their lives is brilliant. I'll just say nothing much changes in human nature.She brings you into their lives including disappointments, victories, etc.One quote I especially enjoyed was when she mentioned her husband was covetous of only one thing: salvations. I am covetous of his zeal.Very interesting are her and her husband, Williams, observations on the liberalizing or 'modernizing' of the Methodist church.I have not read such a well put together biography in a very long time. As a disciple of Christ, I look forward to meeting William and Corra Harris someday.
