Needs Clarification By Reader2 In the introduction, she explains the preparation process for meals in jars in detail, which includes buying some 300cc oxygen absorbers. Then she goes on to explain how to fill the jars, shake them down, add more ingredients and how to warm the gaskets for a tight seal. Unfortunately, in the detailed preparation process, she never mentions what to do with the 300cc oxygen absorbers she said to buy and nowhere in the individual recipes does she mention, "filling, shaking and sealing" the jars, or using the 300cc oxygen absorbers.There are 8 recipes for breakfast, 8 for lunch and 6 for dinner. There's no list of the recipes included and no integrated Table of Contents.The first recipe "Blueberry Pancakes," gives directions for microwaving in a small jar or large size Mason jar. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what size is considered to be a "small jar." We have small jars that hold barely 4 oz and then small canning jars that are a pint. I'm "guessing" that the large Mason jars she refers to would the quart size but it would seem like it would be very hard to eat the small amount of ingredients out of the bottom of a quart jar. Also, the recipe lists the serving size as "1 to 2." Do we split the batter into two jars for two separate servings and if so what's the cooking time for that? Then there's the ingredients.."Nut Milk-3/4." 3/4 of what?The "Breakfast Casserole" recipe says it serves "3 to 4." Here's a partial ingredient list: "eggs-6 pieces" and "Roll dough is curved." I'm not really sure what she's looking for there. In the directions, step 3 says "Next, cut the pie into edible pieces." (No "pie" is in the ingredient list so I'm assuming she meant "pie dough.") Step 4, place pieces at the bottom of the jar. (This serves 3 to 4, how much dough goes into each jar?) Step 6 is to mix the egg and milk. So was the egg raw and did we need 6 eggs and not egg "pieces"?Rarely is the jar size you need to use listed in the recipe. If the recipe is more than one serving, there's no directions as to how much of each ingredient goes in each jar.If you like "trial and error" cooking, this might the book for you.

Meals in a jar By CJS I had high hopes for this cookbook...it fell way short...first off I am thinking this is written for the UK crowd...not very American friendly. . MANY terms and several products I have never heard of...and I've been cooking for well over 50 years. Plus, no photos except for the front of the book...not to mention the dead links in the book. I'd not suggest this book to anyone.
