The story details the descent of the unreliable narrator, possibly named Jane, into madness. By alljazzedup Filled to the brim with symbolism and bizarre allusions, The Yellow Wallpaper is truly a satisfying read for anyone willing to put their mind to work. Though the initial reading and comprehension of the story may seem choppy at first, don't let it throw you off. Stick with it and toss it around in your head for awhile. Re-read it and the symbolism becomes strikingly vivid. A wonderful read for anyone wishing to challenge their imagination, I highly recommend this story.

This short story is interpreted in many different ways; it's the one where the lady is obsessed with the wallpaper in her room and sees another lady trying to get out of the wallpaper, but by the end you are to understand that things aren't quite what they seem.

Up until a half hour ago I never heard of this short story. I read the blurb and thought, oooh psychological thriller, yes please.Basically it's about a woman's decent into madness while staying in an attic room covered with ugly yellow wallpaper. We've all seen paper like this. The kind of pattern that twists and turns and makes phantom pictures when you're trying to sleep.Little by little, the woman starts to "figure out" the pattern and with it her escape...So ok, it's a little creepy. Nothing really upsetting though. It makes you think and feel for those mentally ill, and makes you really glad if you are sound in that way.Overall, a clever story.CONTENT: G (Mild PG if you're very sensitive)
