A really good first book from the Author Jacqueline Silva. Will wait with anticipation for the second part '. So if you want to read a good book on a Stormy night, with a nice cuppa in your hand! I suggest you pick this one you'll be hooked in no time '

She isn't interested in college like her small group of friends. Rachael is ready to see the world and all it has to offer; but she has two suitors fighting for her attention, which doesn't seem like a tragedy to most but she is isn't ready to marry anyone, anytime soon. Suddenly, she has an extended family that she had no idea existed thrust upon her as she struggles to figure out how she fits into her clan now that she's come of age.Rachael has been dreaming of a man, one of the two, that has been seeking her attention. She is drawn to Alexander, who is known to be on friendly terms with one of her clans enemies. Her family approves of the match, but Rachael's not convinced. She has led a sheltered life after her parents death and cannot understand why these two men are so interested in her, which she'll come to find out why.Danger lurks around every corner and Rachael questions everyone's actions, including her family, which leads her to make a few dire decisions and puts her life at risk.Ms. Silva's first novel in this series of three books grabbed my attention and kept me interested. I loved the characters and their back stories. The pacing keeps the plot moving forward and involved me as a reader that I didn't guess the plot twists coming. I anxiously await book two, which I can't always say, because I HAVE TO know what happens to all of these characters. Wonderful book from a writer who knows exactly where to take her readers. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five is because I wanted a bit more and I rarely give five stars.

I liked the author's version of vampires and how the families came to be and interacted, as well as the challenges Rachael faced in finding her place in her family, vampire society and in finding her perfect suitor. I really enjoyed the romance between Alexander and Rachael and its development and challenges, as well as the fact that we got to see both of their perspectives. Unfortunately, even with being given the correct version, there is still editing to be done. Perhaps this is due to a language barrier, but there were times when the sentence structure was off or things were phrased in a way that doesn't sound like a native speaker. I also wished Rachael spoke more like an 18 year old. At times she spoke in a manner that was way too mature for a character that had just turned 18. I also didn't enjoy that Rachael kept acknowledging the fact that things were turning points or that it was the last time for something. It's kind of implied just by the fact that there's a story going on and it didn't need to be said as much, if at all. I definitely think that with some additional editing this story has the potential to be even more spectacular. The world and storyline the author has created is wonderful!***I WAS GIVEN A COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR FREE IN EXCHANGE FOR A FAIR AND HONEST REVIEW***
