I feel that I can speak for many Telugu Americans, in that this Ghattam is so near and dear to all of Telugu people. Ever since I was a child, I heard this story so many times in so many ways. This is the first time, I am seeing a book that recognizes that many of us have now lost practice with reading the Telugu script and yet would love to read the original poems.It is indeed a treat to savor the Telugu poems while they are easier to enunciate due to the transliteration and recite them and actually feel them and understand them. Not only that, we are given a unique understanding of each and every poem by the great Pothana! I wish some one with the talent to chant the poems would take up this book and prepare a DVD of it. In the meantime, this book is a keeper for generations to come. The children and grandchildren and more of the Telugu diaspora who settled in USA will turn to this book as a reference book with great cultural depth and joy of memories of their ancestors.
