About the Author Stacy Tornio love of nature shows itself in all aspects of her life. She is the editor of Birds & Blooms magazine, and is a master gardener in Milwaukee where she teaches youth gardening classes in the community. Stacy enjoys watching her two children explore nature in their own backyard and beyond.Ken Keffer was born and raised in Wyoming. A vagabond naturalist and environmental educator, he’s worked in Alaska, Maryland, New Mexico, Ohio, Wisconsin, and the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. By LAWonder10 This is a quick reference book of the various types of living creatures throughout the world. It is filled with great illustrations and"tidbits" of information. For instance, Did you know there are more than 10,000 species if ants in the world? or... Did you know some Catfish have sharp spines on their fins that can poke you? Each animal has a brief description next to its picture the some added, less known information that relates to the animal or its environment. This quality print book includes not only Insects, and Fish - mentioned above - but includes Herptiles, , Invertebrates, Mammals, and Fowl. There is an index where the reader can quickly look up a species, plus, the places one can go to discover their habitat. There are 253 pages of helpful information, It is definitely useful for all libraries. One can impress one's peers with brief information on so many creatures!This is brief enough for an eight year old yet enjoyable and interesting enough for any adult!

This is one book you can buy for your child and feel one hundred and ten percent good about.The book is setup somewhat similar to a text book or encyclopedia. Each page has a different animal or creature featured but instead of boring you with tons of added text, each animal is wrapped up in an easy to understand, interesting bundle. Each has a brief description, something totally kid friendly that introduces you to the animal, then below that intro, facts are listed about the animal. This allows the child to really get to know all the important and cool things about each creature in a very succinct and fun way that makes them want to keep reading. As far as appearances go, the book is also a 10! It has colorful blocks of text on pages and cute and colorful pictures of all the animals, as well. The eye-catching pages definitely make it appealing for younger audiences!When I first introduced the book to my son (he is 7 years old) he absolutely loved it. He was so thrilled and excited. A nature and animal lover at heart, he started reading immediately. This book is perfect for him because it satisfies his curiousity about so many different animals, bugs, creatures, and insects. I found him commenting about certain things he read and even telling me all about hummingbirds actually have tongues and how marlins can weigh up to 2000 pounds!Totally awesome book and a must buy if you have a child 7+.

By Mrs Mommy Booknerd (Mrs Mommy Booknerd's Book Reviews) #MMBBR I cannot stop picking this book up and reading facts and looking at the pictures! This book is a treasure trove of information!!! There is so much to read and learn within this fabulous book! My kids and I love reading animal facts! I love how it is laid out and there are numbered facts on each animal. This makes the book so much more reader friendly for children and adults too. I also love the Go Outside tidbits! They are just awesome! It is really cool to see that there is a book like this out there because the sense of the wonder of the outdoor is being lost within technology and I think any kid that reads this book will want to get outside and explore nature in all it glory! 5 stars!!PS: Did you now that slugs can lay 400 to 500 eggs in a single year!!! (P. 37, The Secret Loves of Animals). Crazy right??? Check out this book to learn more interesting and crazy animal facts!!!
