By vivian jones Not only does Apostle De-Borah A. Champion include recipes for healthy, yet incredibly down home and delicious meals, but she also talks to us about the Science of Food!!! She helps us to have a clear understanding of the part Vitamins and Minerals play as it relates to our health. She also gives us a peak into her own personal regimen. And then gives us a heads up on disease prevention and foods that help to prevent certain diseases. And she gives us an exhaustive list of Culinary herbs and cooking oils that will benefit us on our journey to a healthier life. This book was not just a book of recipes, but one that helped us to remember that it is possible to cook healthy meals that are truly delicious .

I recently graduated from a state maritime school, and before entering I'd had no idea how vital the American Merchant Marine had been. This book is not up to date (I believe it was published in 1902-1903, but if you're interested in America's seafaring history, this is a great book. It covers virtually all aspects of the American Merchant Marine until the time it was published.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. No matter how much automation you have, you still need the sailors to man the ship.

I wouldn't say that she really took charge of her life. Also, the plot is a bit contrived to get Anne and the hero together. Still, like all Temple Bailey novels, it delivers a good, solid fun story worth reading.

14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Arabian Nights without the magic! By gypsy Anglicized & condensed version of tales of the Arabian nights. Author says he deliberately took out all the Arabian & 'peripheral' stuff, but frankly that's what makes these stories so intriguing! Only simplified plots were provided with no 'smut' or 'colour', so after reading this book I purchased the Sir Richard Burton direct translation to get the real deal (we were travelling on the Silk Road & I wanted more authenticity). It was much more what I was after & I enjoyed it, but it was difficult to read & perhaps not everyone's taste.

The original version has some explicit descriptions of the wife of Sultan Schahriar cavorting with one of her black slaves (which, when the Sultan witnessed it, caused him to execute her and begin his custom of executing a new wife each morning). This edition glosses over the reason for the Sultan's rage. Otherwise, fine.

By Mahesh Kommareddi Good selection of easy to read articles. Some facets are repeated, as can be expected for a book filled with collected articles, but great at providing historical context, fresh insights, and (periodically) critical analysis of Seuss books.I had this as part of my non-fiction book club.
